Program Spotlight: 2021 Volunteering
Ninety-eight years ago, a group of volunteers had the desire to help their neighbors in need, establishing a place in Orange for community outreach called Friendly Center.
Today, with Friendly Center’s many programs come a variety of opportunities for volunteers to get involved and impact the lives of children and families in poverty across Orange County. In 2021, 171 dedicated volunteers gave back to their community by volunteering with Friendly Center.
These volunteers offered a helping hand in many areas, including Friendly Center’s food distributions, Easter Basket Drive, after-school program, holiday programs, Turkey Basket Drive, and diaper distributions. Some even took on special projects, like helping revamp Friendly Center’s program building or picking up donated food on weekday mornings.
Among these 171 volunteers were 15 who gave ten hours or more of their time to serve families in need. These amazing 10+ Hour Volunteers include: Paul Baker, Susan Kurzbard, Joseph Lopresti, Neale Davis, Julia Lieber, Carol Samaniego, Tiffany Nguyen, Mary Mendez, Kenny Fisher, Candi Gomez, Corina Hathiramani, Raymond Lim, Alexey Nguyen, Deanna Nguyen, and Cherie Crane.
We look forward to another year of working with volunteers as we, together, carry on Friendly Center’s legacy of volunteerism and compassion to those in need.
